June 2: Rest in peace Bo Diddley

This isn’t a good year for the founders of popular music. We’ve just lost the originator of the most popular rock-n-roll dance beat ever. Just ask groups like U2 and the Rolling Stones. Song’s like “Desire” and Bow wow wow’s “I want Candy” helped rhythmically challenged people world wide actually convince themselves that they could find the down beat. But he said the most nostalgic thing I’ll never forget when he was honored in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of fame ceremony. Diddley appreciated the honors he received, "but it didn't put no figures in my checkbook."

"If you ain't got no money, ain't nobody calls you honey," he quipped."I am owed," he told the AP, adding "a dude with a pencil is worse than a cat with a machine gun" -- he reflected modestly on the rock 'n' roll revolution he helped start.

Lesson learned sir. Rest in Peace.
