Jun 12: House of Blues, Dallas

So what's the reasoning for going to a Mexican Restaurant and ordering pizza? Something tells me that the event coordinator who booked us here probably does that. This night is gonna be memorable in that sense. At the last minute we're being asked to play everything we don't play and dress like we don't dress. Come on! You know who you brought here. You wouldn't hire Willie Nelson and ask him to play MC Hammer would you? OK.

Now that I've got that out of my system I'm happy to be here because it's my first time playing the House of Blues in Dallas. In the green room, I'm greeted by a giant mural of Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. However I, Looked at the touring schedule and I don't see many working blues cats. I guess they forgot the spirit behind it all. So back to the request hour. This venue is perfect for live music. Whatever we played received mad applause. I remember feeling so free tonight crouching down and cruising across the stage with my guitar draped over me like a flame thrower while my amp barked out another tune. Sheer bliss for me. I guess the first rule to a good event is to let the band do what they do and everything will be fine. So fine in fact the guest might even enjoy themselves and uptight party planners can make it home without being violated by the members of Dysfunkshun Junkshun. I'm just playing! Ok, no I'm not. Strange as it ends, once again rather than staying in our complimentary hotel rooms some of us decided to hit the road. I don't mind because the drive is so peaceful on the interstate after 2AM and going into the local stop-n-robs is entertaining on its own. Latenight freaks and counter hugging geeks. On that note I'll take my kolache to go. Our sax player Hook is going through some tough times now so let's all keep him in our prayers. He'll be fine...just say a little prayer for the brother and he'll survive.

Thanks for reading....Tooddles!
