July 18-19..Still in unfunkytown

Private party action this weekend. I don't remember much after I busted myself in my head with my guitar. Ouch! All I can remeber is good money...good food...good night!

And that's all I've got to say about that.

July 11: Speakeasy

Back in Austin tonight. What a blast! By the size of the crowd it appears Austin is getting sick of all the microwave music downtown and they wanted to taste something cooked in a skillet with some pork grease.

You still don’t know what I mean? Pay attention;

This is your big toe:

July 5: Still in Houston

I woke up early this morning in my mega-clean hotel room. I couldn't handle anymore sleep. I reached to feel a gentle spirit next to me only to find the cold, damp wood of my guitar. Damn it. I'm ready for some human touch. Even if it means violence! Wow. I'm losing it! Not now because I have another show to play so it's back to finding something to do before sound check. I can't seem to focus on anything that doesn't cost money so I'll just sit on the bed and keep playing guitar until it's time to leave. We wound up going to a Chinese buffet and eating much more than we should. I feel so bloated and it's not even that time of the month.

As soon as we arrived at the venue guess what? More food. Great food. A three course meal on top of all that LamBo ... I was still feeling bloated so I had to pass it off to one of the boys so I could get my groove on when show time hit. Glad I did because the wedding had so many beautiful women on site and I needed all of my stamina to dazzle them with both of my dance moves. Turns out the groom and several of his guests were members of the Tennessee Titans. One look at all these beautiful people it just made me say Damn! I wanna go home do some pushups and sit ups or something. But y'all know I'm still balling after all these years. Don't think so? Come see us and you will agree.

July 4: Freedom Fest, Houston

Happy birthday America and happy birthday Gooch!

We're on the way from Lowsy-anna to Houston to play the Chevrolet Freedom Festival. It's an early show so that means we can party tonight. I'm in that mood so I'm gonna so something wild tonight if the weather will hold up because driving back into Texas things were looking dreadful. Once we came to the park it was pouring rain for nearly an hour. The sun came out eventually which made the humidity more sticky than elephant mucus (ugh). To top it off the mixing console got soaked so the production at the event caught hell with technical issues. The promoter is telling every band that we're gonna stay on schedule so that may mean shorter sets. As long as it doesn't mean shorter checks I could care less. Now that it's our turn we're gonna give Houston something to remember and boy did we. This big stage complete with a big sound system was more than enough mass to make some serious sound waves. I'd had another chance to sing my song and shake my thong like nobody's business. The boys were feeling the vibe as well and continued to put it where it feels good. Poor Marc with his 102 degree fever charged on despite his flu, playing groove after groove in the summer humidity. This thing was so crazy that I jumped off stage in the middle of a song just to get the crowd going. At one point some lady put out her nachos(not those nacho's..the kind you buy at the food stand) and I indulged in their cheesy goodness with full crowd jubilation. So you see where I'm getting brothers and sisters? I'm a bad, bad man and even my big toe can put on a show. What a night. Despite all the rock stardom we ended the night back at the hotel peacefully playing cards and watching TV. I was swept away with a case of loneliness and longed for some companionship. As I scrolled through my phone (aka..the "ho-lodex") and thought to myself, "Which one of these lovelies will get to see my rocket's red glare", I turned back to my true love....My guitar. At least she's got her G-string. I lounged the rest of the evening just sitting on my bed strumming until I fell asleep. Love is such a wonderful thing!

Goodnight!

July 3: LDL Casino, Louisianna!

Ayyyy-eeeeee! Its July 4th weekend and the van is packed wall to wall with DFJ members. We're playing a show at the pool of a casino. I've got a feeling the view will be a pleasant one. If its my kind of party you just might see my rocket's red glare a little early this year.

Although I was led to believe that rooms would be in the casino I was glad the hotel was within five miles of the show. The room wasn't bad but it did have this aroma similar to the smell of someone's gym shoes that were left next to a dumpster behind a Denny's restaurant. You get it... Sort of funky. Or maybe it smelled more like the back of Andre' the Giants neck after a night in a sweat suit in the Sahara desert. Laughing yet? Me too. Anyhow, sound check outside of the pool. Hmmm. Hot. Very hot. Afterwards we were escorted to the green room inside the casino. One helluva long walk.

Inside, poor Marc was feeling under the weather so he took refuge on the couch under a few of our clothes. Poor dude. I'm sure whatever virus he had will be defeated by the funk within our unwashed garments.

They were kind enough to let us eat the buffet and they had a wonderful selection. I think TC sampled everything in one trip. I ate enough shrimp to make Forest and Bubba stand up and salute. Now all that food made us a bit sluggish in the first hour of playing time but after the booze started flowing and the crowd started going the party came into full swing. Lots of dancing, smiling people everywhere you turned. With all the girls dancing on the platforms it was hard to keep Hook on the stage for more than two beats of a song and before you know it he's working his jelly on another dancing girl. Do your thang boy!

After the show I hit the casino. Not for gambling but just a chance to catch the vibe and meet the people. LDL casino was good to us tonight in so many ways, a few of them I'll refrain from mentioning to keep my clean reputation. I hope we come back here soon. Knowing that Kool and the Gang was here last week and Tom Jones next, I feel like I'm on a path here. Wayne Newton or King Kong ain't got shit on me!

Enuff.....!
