May 31: Westlake High 4AM!

I can't believe we're here this early. A bunch of road worthy old funky cats playing a high school graduation party at 4AM. Oh yeah, a SOBER graduation party. Marc was one of the first people on the scene, tuning his kit. You Can tell by the look on TC's face that we're all tired but it was soon to be a thing of the past.

Let me tell ya. A bunch of eighteen year old high school graduates jacked up on sugar and caffeine make one hell of a crowd to play for. Thank you West Lake High class of '08 for showing us mad love. I'm out!

May 24: Houston Can You Hear Me ?

I know you do because Austin lost all its soul. Not for long because I'm gonna force feed it in a new hole. Just watch people, if you dare!

So we just did a private event at a swank country club in down town Houston. $100,000 a year membership. I want to choke the florist who erected these giant monstrosities right next to the stage. I'll give them and "E" for effort but the middle finger for blocking our speaker. Guess you gotta be a baller or an Exxon employee to be here.

Before the show we stopped at guitar center and checked out some cool guitars. This freaking fender strat is on sale for a mere $42,000. That's right! $42,000. Even if I had that kinda loot I wouldn't give it up for one guitar. Enough of this action? We played one of the coolest parties tonight. So cool that they wanted us to play an extra hour but at least 1/2 of the band wasn't feeling it. What a drag getting old right? Nah! Still got lead in the pencil..watch out now!

May 22: Discovery Green, Houston

Day number three in Houston and I'm losing it. I'm sick of everything and everybody today. I better just stay in my room. This hotel ain't bad because although the room is clean but the pillows are harder than rocks and my neck is killing me. I'd feel better if I just eat something. We ate at a place called Momma's for lunch so I'm feeling like a stuffed country boy. I'm good now. We're playing a park in down town Houston (where ya at Austin?) This park is next to the Minute Maid Center and the Toyota Center. All of the sky rises in the background make this show feel like a big deal. I guess it is because they've hired a big bad band! Now if you're not familiar with Houston humidity it is best described as sticky. So sticky that some sort of demonstration was taking place down the street. Can't wait to drown them out with our thunder. Despite it we showed out for the crowd just like we're supposed to.

Junior was being a rock star all show long. Even Hook was off the chain this afternoon. It's like someone kicked him in the ass and he realized it's time to shine. Every time he stepped up front to play a solo's the ladies swooned. Work your jelly boy! We get one day off and then we're rolling here again on Saturday. I'm gonna put on the iPod and drown out all of the phone conversations behind me before I go off...think I need some me time!

May 21: After a Houston Show

After being treated like a rock star all night I'm in my hotel room drinking cold beer and enjoying the vibe. Damn, I feel like I'm on top of the world. Can you feel me? Of course not!

May 21: Warehouse Live, Houston

It's nice to play in a venue set up for live touring act. This one is awesome because of a smoking PA and the light show from Hell. We're playing for another high school tonight, so we're forced to watch youthful gyration in front of us all night and not knowing how to react. "Young lady, stop misbehaving" or do I say "Damn shawty, drop it like its 'hot'?" Decisions, decisions. One thing for sure. Everyone in the band is tired from too much rest. Not much energy on stage tonight so I felt I had to work twice as hard to get some energy back from the crowd.
We let some kid come on stage and play some guitar. He was damn good. Blew me away when he started playing some Hendrix and jumped in and rocked "Purple Haze" You're daddy taught you right, son. You sho 'nuff gonna get some action tonight. Glad somebody's gonna get laid, cuz we ain't!

May 18: Paramount Gala

So we're playing this thing in the middle of Congress Avenue in down town Austin. We're about four blocks from the Capitol at the Paramount theatre. Kris Kristoferson is playing inside. We want to thank him for not eating his fruit bowl or his vegatable dip because they were kind enough to put it in our green room so we could have something to eat. What a night! Two hours of non-stop soul. This was so soothing for me. It helped me burn so many bad memories. Got a few more demons to exorcise so let me get focused on that and not the past. .....Next!

May 15: UPDATE

Hey kids! Yeah I know haven't been keeping up with the road journal. I never knew that so many people were reading my incoherent babble. I've been focusing my spare time elsewhere for now (www.brothermagnum.com) so you'll have to come to a show and ask me what's been up rather than read about it. I'm sure I'll give you an ear full....or maybe a mouth full!
